Currently on EXP build for 1.28 and noticed that I can only drop items into the small area at the top of the Vicinity area whereas I believe you should be able to drag an item from your inventory anywhere on the far left of your screen to drop it to the floor. This would allow for much easier inventory manipulation in tense situations where the player cannot be so precise.

Drag items inside your player inventory or hands to put them on the floor on the left and note the limited area where this will work.

mines even worse. It's also intermitten. Somtimes that small vicinity bar will accept my inventory items. BUT sometimes I haven't found ANY spot to drag items into (when they decide they don't want to go to the vicinity) so I have to resort to drag into hands and throw, or drag into container that's in vicinity (and leave it there). Not great for combat or QOL.
This is for 1.28 AND 1.27 !
