Hi.
Given that there are a good amount of CDLCs available, it would be nice for the launcher and modlist html files it generates to automatically determine whether or not somebody owns a CDLC when they import the modlist into the launcher, and load the corresponding CDLC or compatibility data.
For example, in my group, I maintain two modlists; one with our regular mods plus Western Sahara for those who own the CDLC, and another where it instead it's the workshop compatibility addon for those who don't own the CDLC. We've talked about something similar for Reaction Forces and now Expeditionary Forces, but it would mean maintaining more modlists. (One for people who own WS and RF, one for people who own just WS but not RF, one for RF and not WS, and one for neither).
If there were a way to have a modlist that includes the CDLCs, but the launcher checks if the player owns the CDLC or not, and if not, it downloads the compatibility data instead, that would be very nice.
This would allow groups to have a singular modlist with however many CDLCs added on, and it would be helpful for newer players who might not really understand the difference between regular DLCs and CDLCs. This therefore would make it easier overall for CDLCs to be used.
A hypothetical change would be to replace the existing "The DLC X is not owned and cannot be loaded" prompt with a prompt that says "The X CDLC is not owned. Would you like to use compatibility data in modlist instead?" which would prompt the user to download the relevant compatibility data items.
Thank you!
