CTD in map view
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

Game crashes to desktop when viewing map in-game and in Eden Editor. Problem occurs after opening map screen in campaigns, missions, scenarios and also when exploring a map in Eden Editor (issue takes place when using the map screen in the scenario editor and when using the map screen in the scenario).

This crash constitutes around 95% of the crashes I have experienced since trying the Apple Silicon Native version. This also means I am unable to even get past the initial meeting with the commander (where you take the map from the board and he briefs you on the ground) during the First Contact campaign (issue occurred before and after buying/installing Contact).

Totally understand that Macs are extremely finicky and less than ideal to game on, but given how frustrating this issue is I have to see if it can be solved.

Start up a campaign, mission, or scenario. Press M to view the in game map. Game crashes soon afterwards, usually within 5-20 seconds, chance of crash increases if carrying out actions on the map (annotating, right click dragging, zooming in and out, checking tasks etc).

Additional Information

Pressing escape and saving during the mission just before accessing the map sometimes mitigates the risk of CTD.

Playing on a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021), Apple M1 Pro, 16 GB of memory, 1Tb SSD.

Have tried verifying local files and restarting the computer.

Hey @dedmen, sorry for the delay. Followed the steps on the link and checked AppDataLocal, there are no files of the type mentioned in there.

Have attached some .diag and ips files instead.

Further info: I have now uninstalled and reinstalled Arma and the bug persists.

Interestingly, apart from this crash, I only have only encountered one other bug (cannot resume anything that isn't an official scenario or campaign as saves don't work) in 180hrs of messing around in the Mac native version, so that's something!

Contemplating updating to the latest Mac OS, but that currently feels like adding an extra variable into the mix.

Upgraded to OS X 14.7 problem persists (not sure if I should open a new task due to the OS change).

You can edit your task (I already did it for you)

@Leopard20, thank you, really appreciate you doing that. Couldn't find a way to edit that part of the task.
