gpu hangs constantly

Description

i play for between 5-20 minutes rarely longer sometimes even within 2 minuets of joining a server and my game crashes with gpu hangs error. I have tried a different gpu. i got a littler longer gameplay but did the same thing. i have the latest drivers installed for amd i have messed with video settings in game and still nothing to fix the issue. i had a previous bug report but no fix. any help would be appreciated.

pc specs:
cpu: ryzen 7 2700x
gpu: auorus rx5700xt 8gb oc
Ram: 32gb 3200mhz
Motherboard: Rog strix b450-f gaming
games installed on nvme

I had a similar problem with an R6800XT, it was the GPU overheating.

The GPU Temp looked fine but in AMD Adrenalin Software you can choose to view the GPU HotSpot temperature and mine was getting up to 110 degrees C.

The fix for me was to install an additional cooler in the case to get more airflow over the Gfx card and I also re-timmed the GPU with Arctic MX-6 as the AMD GPUs are prone to the original TIM failing.

In the meantime you could also try underclocking and undervolting the GPU and also set a power limit under Tuning in the Adrenalin software to see if that allows the GPU to run cooler.

Since I did all the above I haven't had a single GPU hang.

on modded and official. the most recent version. the temps are around 80 was running fine earlier today with upwards of 2 hours of gameplay no issues but now happened again. heres a picture of error i got @Geez

Are you running any overclocking setup? And could you try some of the suggestions by @EricTViking ?

Make sure you're checking the HotSpot Temperature not the Card Temperature. One can read OK while the other still be too high. HotSpot temp is usually hidden.

default settings in amd adrenaline hot spot temp got tops 90 but sits around 85-87c most time. i did fur mark before never crashed and let it run for a good while and temps maxed at around 90 while running that. tried to underclock and undervolt and game wouldn't launch. it seems like its the game itself that's making it crash. @Geez

i tried to undervolt and underclock my gpu but still got the same gpu hang errors. by the looks of logs its something with direct x
