Description

Hello team,

I wanted to bring your attention to the graphical changes that have been made since DayZ left Early Access Alpha in 2018.

Looking back at older legacy versions of DayZ, one cannot help but notice that the graphical fidelity of DayZ was in some form or another was superior than what we have now. I am attaching a before and after comparison that I made using old screenshots from 2015 by a user named Tatanko. The screenshots are taken almost exactly in the same spot a decade later.

Looking at 2015 screenshots shows that DayZ had more realistic looking shadows, lighting, and ambient occlusion.

In this comparison of the Prison building, we can notice:

  • Shadows
    1. Darker in tone
    2. Shadows were much sharper (Now pixelated & blurry)
  • Lighting
    1. Interiors were darker
    2. Walls and ceilings are now unnaturally bright
  • Ambient Occlusion
    1. Corners of rooms were darker
    2. Ambient occlusion is very weak in 1.25

Here are two screenshots from Green Mountain, before and after:

  • Color Palette
  1. More colorful
  2. Sky was naturally blue

The color palette of the terrain was much more colorful and vibrant, but today they are simplified and consist of just one shade of green. The sky had a natural blue color, but now it's completely washed out and unnaturally grey.

Here is the video comparison:

100% fully agree with this. Something the devs need to look into. Unfortunately you’ll probably be ignored.

I hope this is why they brought that Lad onto the team.
