Description

Game Version number: 1.2.0.70
Modded: No

Before 1.2 update Reforger had one of the best sound environments of all games I know. It was rich, very well spatially orientated and really immersive. Now it's gone. It's flat and distant.
Sound hardware: SoundBlaster AE5Plus, Logitech Z905 5.1 speakers. Everything is up-to-date, I've not made any changes to my sound settings. Every other game sound the same as it was yesterday. Except for Reforger. It's much worse.

has your Dynamic Range slider changed?

the Dynamic Range slider adjusts how loud ambient sounds (footsteps, moving through bushes, etc, pretty much anything other than gunshots) are relative to gunfire. dragging Dynamic Range it to 0% (sic) makes ambient sounds louder, while 100% (sic) makes them nearly inaudible. TBH at 50% they are pretty damn near inaudible, too.

i do feel (subjectively) that the 0% setting for ambients boosts them by less than it used to. maybe this happened in the 1.2 update?

(aside: Laxemann has said that ambient sounds are quiet because he wants gunfire to be "realistically loud", which is great, but in reality we'd all have punctured eardrums and rampant tinnitus if that was the case.)

@speedwaystar
No, my Dynamic Range setting was not changed. I tried adjusting it, but it is not the matter of DR.
After 1.2 update soundscape lost its depth and character. It sound as if there was new compression algorithm and it was set slightly below average sound quality. While previously it was set to ultra.
