Stuttering with AMD hardware
Acknowledged, NormalPublic

Description

The synopsis:

DayZ under statistics will shows that I have 100+FPS but the game play is not smooth. It’s not a stutter like the one mentioned with inventory but it’s a frame time issue it seems. I have tested a couple CPUs, and a few GPUs on fresh installs of windows with the latest drivers and for some reason the game can not hold consistent frame times each time I have tested.

I have been testing this issue for 3 years with different hardware - including upgraded cooling, power supplies, higher internet connections, lower ping - dedicated servers.

Nothing seems to fix this issue.

The only 2 pieces of information I have consistently found is that when you graph the frame times, the pacing is off and every configuration associated with an AMD GPU or CPU has issues. (You can find many of these instances on the DayZ discord in the troubleshoot channel, and Reddit as well)

I have tested DayZ with 3060, 3080, 4090 GPUs

I have tested with 5600x and 5900x.

I have increased RAM from 16gbs to 32GBs at 4000mhz (DOCP enabled)

I have also tried limiting frames using driver side limiter, RTSS and neither perform well. The frametime grapgh evens out but the gameplay is still not smooth.

This may be entirely AMDs fault but time and time again I am stumped, and only find forums and questions from people running AMD hardware

My current system and important settings :

4090 + 5900x 32gbs of 4000mhz ram 1200watt power supply. Monitor - 1440p, 165hz, Gsync compatible Max temps I get are 75c
SETTINGS:
Nvidia Control Panel
• Vsync -Gsync -power management - Maximum performance.
In bios I have the overdrive on - to allow CPU to run at full capacity ( I have seen improved performance from this)
DOCP enabled

Hey @Geez, I’ve not made a ticket before. Does acknowledged mean it’s a known issue or what does this mean for the status of the ticket

Hello Melbourne2323.
It means we are aware of the problem and it is being looked into.

Thank you for the quick response

@Geez Hope you had a good weekend. Checking in to see if there has been any update on this.

Hello, unfortunately no updates.
The issue is still being looked into.

I have pretty much this exact issue with similar specs, even tried a full system wipe and the issue persists

Win11, 4090, 5800x3d, 64gb ram, 1000watt psu, 240hz monitor, Installed on NVMe

My framerates fluctuate randomly from a usually steady 200fps to around 40fps in a jolting fashion, every few seconds. I don't have anything running in the background other than steam.

I've tried:

  • Turning off core isolation
  • Updating all drivers for all components
  • DDU
  • NVCleanInstall
  • Running as Administrator
  • Turning down polling rate
  • full reinstall of system

Im having the exact same issue.
Was running 60-70 fps before 1.26 and now is in general 30fps, or less
Tried all of the above as well, no success.
So far ruined the game for me, a +10k hours player of the game

Also having these same issues since 1.26 update as well. I have tried DDU reinstall for NVidia drivers, Complete fresh install of DayZ via stream, and also removing any overclocking via GPU and still nothing has fixed the shuttering or fps loss/dips that have been really noticeable this update. I stopped messing with the hardware because i noticed with other games nothing in terms of performance has changed so it has to be something with this patch and optimizing. I have almost 6,000 hours in dayz and this is by far the worst performance I've had patch wise and hope that it gets fixed soon!
