Servers not recognizing signed pbo's since 1.24
New, UrgentPublic

Description

We've tried literally everything we can think of to get the PBO signed but every time we update and publish the server throws the 78 error
Client has PBO server does not.

And Yes the pbo is signed, the key is on the server. All the other PBOs in the pack were signed at the same time and they work fine.
Delete the pbo from the server and the client and the server works. There are no errors during the packing.

The PBO is part of a map and is on the larger size, but we tried removing some PBOs from the pack thinking it was a size issue.
already reduced the file size to 1.28Gb from 2.25Gb(realized it was probably exceeding a size limit), which is smaller than when it was packed under 1.23 at 1.48Gb

Are there new limitations in 1.24 we're exceeding??
DS Utils claims the pbo is signed, but this is not the case once it's on the server.

Just had this issue with another server.
Different map, different server, different mod

Mod is signed but wont load on the server.

The Only thing that has changed in my process is 1.24 update

Nate_LapT renamed this task from DS Utils not signing 1 pbo out of modpack since 1.24 to DS Utils not signing pbo's since 1.24.Mar 15 2024, 12:13 AM

Everything is correct.
tried local server with only 2 mods, map and the loading screen, used addon builder (which everyone suggests not to) DS Utils, Signed OK!
Same issue.

Ok......
Literally the only thing I changed since posting this, was removing the mod from the server while I slept, and upon testing again today, it is now working.
The publish date is yesterday. So same key file, same pbo!

How is this prevented in the future?
I took no action on my end to make this file functional.

Edit: oh, I did do ONE thing! I added it to another server I'm working on, and it worked!
:Magic:

Another day wasting a few more hours with this bug
Tried to build another mod to test locally, and nope same error.

Tried making a new key this time.
ended up finding this little help bit on here

Not sure how wise it was to delete the folder with 5 files in it.
Really hoping they were only for pboproject and a few random keys I made over a year ago I don't use.

further follow up, went and made a new key from another PC I've never used dayz tools on.
no change.

in todays adventure of, Will It Sign...

Steps:
Stole another PC
installed DayZ Tools
put a random file in a folder
Addon builder packed it
Generated new key on PC that's never seen dayz tools ever.
Signed the PBO
Published PBO
Published second time since steam doesn't work right away.

Added Mod to server
Added Brand New key to server
started.

Nope, Failed

Can someone Please check why this is not signed.
Btw, it's literally a jpg of a Duck in the addons folder.
am I somehow missing some step I've done a hundred times over the past year...

I've been told that was a bad example since I didn't include a config.cpp file...
swapped it out with the code I'm trying to actually use.
Which does not run locally.

Hey @Geez Thanks for your hardwork here,
Can I get an acknowledgement this has at least been passed over to QA for review?

I am having this exact same issue. It tells me a pbo is not there, but it very clearly is there and all signed properly.

Has there been any progress towards figuring out this issue at all?

I'm now working on a loading screen, making adjustments over the past few hours. only to now be stuck with this bug on my final revision and no matter how I pack it, it refuses to sign.
It's not an issue of the code... Loads up just fine client side. Server just refuses to accept the signed key.. Same signed key I've been using past year for other mods.
Is there a cache file in windows that needs to be purged?

I too had a similar issue when trying to load a mod onto my local server. Kept saying that the pbo was not part of the server, however it was. Everything was signed and keys copied over etc.

Hello Nate_lapT.
Unfortunately I havent got any information from the devs in regards to this topic.

Thanks, I've been struggling with this for a month straight now, never had this issue ever in the past.
I can't find anything on my end that can be the issue.

The only crash report I see is not related to this at all.

is there any debug flag that can be set to get further info for why a PBO is rejected?
