Sensory/hearing issue - Sound effect when character is on red thirst
Feedback, NormalPublic

Description

The sound effect which can be heard when character’s thirst levels cause the icon to turn red.

When the character’s thirst level goes to red the character makes a sound which is triggering for people with tinnitus and/or sensory issues. I play a lot of hardcore survival servers where it’s quite common to be in need of hydration.

This has significantly impacted my ability to enjoy playing the game.

This sound effect is horrific. I have no idea why after so many years implementing these sound effects was deemed neccessary, and with no option to turn it off. It's incredibly jarring and has made the game totally unplayable for me from a health point of view.

Incredibly dissapointing, as this was my favourite game of all time.

It's been 6 weeks since I filed this feedback and I have had no response, despite several messages.

I was reliabily informed by several people that Bohemia Interactive takes accessibility issues very seriously. Unfortunately I've seen no evidence of this being the case.

To be clear, I have tinnitus, hyperacusis, ADHD and ASD and this relatively new sound effect triggers a lot of these conditions.

Sorry for your problem but they are not going to change the game because you have problems. As simple as that. They cannot accommodate the game to every person with illnesses and disabilities out there.

Well at least someone replied!

Again, this is something the devs have chosen to add. It's a new feature which causes distress to people with disabilities and debilitating conditions. I have spoken to numerous people who have the same complaint.

Hello CheesusCwitht.
This is not a game bug and it is up to the dev team to decide whether this feature is going to be adjusted for the future. We would like to rework the sound to be more consistent with the other in game sounds, however I cannot currently provide any estimates as to when this could happen.

Geez

Hi Geez,

Thanks for your reply.

This is not your problem, but the world is quickly becoming a very hostile place for people like myself, and so being essentially locked out of your favourite game due to permanent disabilities is tough.

Thanks again
