Wolves Spawn Without Howling Near Dead Zombies

Version 1.23 PC offical server

My friend and I were looting. We killed some zombies, then walked back to back to our car 100-200 metres away and continued looting for around 5 minutes. We drove down the road towards where we killed the zombies, and we found a pack of wolves eating the zombies. We never heard any howls. Luckily, I just ran them all over with my car. I don't know if this is a bug or feature, but it's something I noticed anyway.

Maybe, when the wolves spawn and a edible object in within range of them, they never howl?

Edit: I just checked, there is a wolf spawn around 200 metres away from where we killed the zombies.

Steps To Reproduce

As a player, it's almost impossible for me to test this but here is a general outline of what appeared to happen:

  1. Kill zombie(s)
  2. Move away 100-200(?) metres. Im not exactly sure of the distance we travelled.
  3. Wolves spawn close to zombie(s)
  4. They don't howl and instead eat the zombie(s)?

We did confirm that this occurs if wolves are aggroed by something else within the range (dead body from either infected, player, animal or animals) even if they change their aggro to you after.
And ofcourse, the issue is scheduled for a fix :)

TBH I don't feel like wolves occasionally spawning without a howling sound is a bad thing. It adds to the immersion imo. IRL you'd see wolves roaming around without making any noise more often than howling around like mad. In fact, the times where wolves spawned on me silently in DayZ, were some of the coolest "movielike" moments I've had in the game tbh.
