When some clothing items are dropped, they go off center to the right and not at your feet like other items. I dropped a black rain coat in a tavern building and it went right through the wall and I had to go outside the building to get it. Shortly after I switched pants in a medical and my old freshie pants full of items were swallowed into the wall in the same way and I lost them. I was able to reproduce this by just taking off my freshie pants or the black rain coat and dropping them and they always went to the right of my player model instead of centered. I then dropped my light blue mountain backpack and it went centered at my feet as items should when dropped.
