PROPOSAL - Hand Grenades need rework

Description

Hang grenades are almost unusable and rarely useful in their current implementation for the following reasons:

  • No adjustable throwing strength (Cannot lob over close obstacles, throwing always overshoots, cant high-arc a throw, grenade always bounces around like crazy, grenade rolls past desired throwing distance)
  • Hard to aim (no way to measure or 'feel' where the grenade is going to go)
  • Akward and unresponsive

Proposed Changes:

Click once to pull pin (do not need to hold)
Press middle mouse to drop spoon (start cooking)
Right click to cancel (if cooking has not started)
Mouse wheel to adjust throwing distance
HUD Indicator to indicate current throwing strength selected
Click Left mouse to throw

I partly agree with OP and would like the devs to look at the implementation of grenades in ARMA 2 as an example that worked quite well. Special emphasis on the aiming hand and the animation denoting throwing strength. Something similar to that system would be an improvement.

For use on controller you could have the throwing strength be set by how much you press down on the right trigger, then use left trigger to initiate cooking.
