Zombies can hit you from 5 feet away. This can't be what you intended. They also react to suppressed shots like you dont have one.

With the reach these zombies now have they can hit you at least twice each just trying to lock them up. When your at a Military compound they hit so fast and from so far away youre guaranteed multiple bleeds.
Can confirm, zombies can hit you from below when you are standing on the second floor of the little camo net / sandbag bunker.
Hello aabalas.
This is not a bug but an intentional change that has been addressed in the patch notes. The distance might be tweaked again for the future versions based on the player feedback and general balancing.

Geez
Without more transparence as to why this change was made to Infected attack ranges, its hard to say whether the intended goal or effect was accomplished.
From a player standpoint, this is a very unfun gameplay decision. Not only does it not make sense from a "realism" standpoint, because Infected attacking from meters away is just not "realistic" unless they for some reason have elastic arms or 5 meter whips, it also doesn't make sense to me from a gameplay perspective, because it does not appear to effectively solve any problem present in previous patches of DayZ. The player should be able to deal with Infected in various ways. Many of the changes introduced in 1.13 increase the probability of being able to stealth kill them and slowly take them out 1 by 1. The player should also be free, if they feel they are about to be overwhelmed or are starting to be overwhelmed, to be able to use their brain and deal with Infected in other ways. This can include 'going loud' by shooting, running and finding locations to slowly lock up zombies, or running to a strategic locations to "bottleneck" the zombies and forcing them to approach 1 by 1. Currently a player is not able to move or disengage without being attacked by something that in no way looks like it should land. This leads to players believing they are experiencing lag, desync, or some other game breaking bug, because there is no reason for attacks like that to land.
I believe that reverting the Infected attach range while keeping all of the other changes introduced in 1.13 will have the Infected at a really healthy spot in regards to player engagement and combat.
Agree with a lot of the feedback on this change. It seems like the intent may have been to make it more difficult to lock up zombies and get out unscathed (?), but it just feel cheap. Really cheap.
