0xC0000005 Status Access Violation crash
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

So this crash started occurring randomly when the game was played, and there was no consistent time interval. I have uninstalled the game, deleted all Arma and Bohemia Interactive files on my computer, and attempted to do a fresh install on a new profile and it made no effect. I have updated the drivers on my graphics card, updated my computer, deleted Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 (x64 and x86) and reinstalled, I have uninstalled and reinstalled DirectX and still have had no success even after multiple restarts. I have also taken advice to delete NVIDIA Geforce experience from my computer and that has not helped at all.I have checked my Windows systems files for corrupt files and was insured that there were not any and I am at a loss for how to fix this. The issue has gone from occurring once even half hour to not being able to even load a single player mission without the game immediately crashing.

If you have a USB headset, unplug it or unistall its drivers and see if it solves your problem.

I don't have a USB headset unless you except an Oculus Rift is one. I have removed the Rift and the sensors just in case but still crashes.
I have also gone through the following from the community Wiki:

  1. Try joining another server, then rejoin the previous one.

I don't use any servers.

  1. Update the graphics card drivers to a newer version.

I have updated but still crash.

  1. Rollback the graphics card drivers to an older version.

Not done yet and unsure how.

  1. Check the temperature of your GPUs and CPUs.

I have been running X-plane in VR with no problems and nothing gets much hotter than that so I don't think that's an issue.

  1. Verify the integrity of the game cache using Steam.

Completed and no problems found.

  1. Re-install DirectX.

Not sure how to do it as I'm running on Windows 7 and Microsoft does not have a download option.

  1. Uninstall the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable package (both x86 and x64 version), restart your computer and install the package again (do not use the Repair function).

Completed but still crashing.

  1. Run a Windows System File Check tool to repair corrupted system files.

Completed, no problems found.

I have uninstalled Arma3 from steam and then re-installed without any add-ons but still crashes.
This is a strange crash considering I have been playing Arma3 just a few weeks ago without any problems.
Is there anything else I could try?

same. dunno what to do

so, yeah, veryfing files helped.

Just as a note, and may help others having the same issue, I tried changing a few settings from the options menu in the dash board and got ARMA to work.
What confuses me is I had to run the game in 32 bit mode and it works every time, when I run the game in 64 bit mode it crashes every time.
My system is 64 bit Windows 7 home.
I don't mind running in 32 bit because I can now carry on playing so that's a win for me and I hope for others too if their problem is the same.
I hope this helps you too Devs, I would appreciate if you could let me know why I need to run the game in 32 bit mode, what am I doing wrong?
Maybe I've missed something in my setup or overlooked an installation setting in steam?
Thanks Devs for an excellent game, keep up the great work!

@fogdad launch Arma 3 launcher, in right upper corner of the launcher, select OPTIONS -> Launcher Options and in the Compatibility section, select Use an old system dialog for the folder selection.
See if this helps.

Thanks for the help but it did not work, same error code came up. Reverted back to 32 bit and runs OK. Performance on my machine is still good in 32 bit so I'm happy but if you want me to try more options then just let me know.
