Graphic quality has gone down vastly since 1.05?
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

Since 1.05 has dropped, and especially since the latest experimental update. The graphical rendering in the distance has been downgraded.

LODS of terrain and objects are now lower resolution than they used to be (low detail/poly looking very poor in quality and complexion in the terrain/models)

Others I talked to have noticed this change and issue too.

Is this to do with the changes to the rendering pipeline? If so I hope to see this fixed
Here is an example of low-quality terrain in the distance:

(kinda bad exmaple but you can see the low-res terrain in the distance)

Additional Information

There's also in the clip above, really delayed hit registration or death/ death animations for the zeds and even potentially players in the distance so maybe look into that issue.

(also the server performance/zombies have gone very bad especially on the officials)

Hello jamielou.007.
We have tested this on the 1.04 version and compared it to 1.05 but we do not see any difference at all.

Can you please provide us with a comparison between the 1.04 version and 1.05 version from your side? Also, please make sure that the video settings are both the same on both versions.
Regards,
Geez

Hello Geez,

I tested once again, and the graphical fidelity issues were due to FXAA, and when I disabled it, the blur disappeared, however, I do not know why it was on when I disabled PP AA in the GFX Settings.

I went through my .cfg file and disable it manually. Sorry for the inconvenience.

However, while I was testing I would like to bring up that the terrain from the distance from overlooking through Zub castle does look really low res which may not be able to be fixed. But it reminded me whether you guys were planning to bring back the sinking technology in the grass for players. As I do not believe it has returned with the transformation to Enfusion

I don't think there was any comment given as per this ticket https://feedback.bistudio.com/T142613

Or mentioned in this community post I made https://forums.dayz.com/topic/245854-feedback-to-enhance-and-bring-back-old-authentic-feel-of-dayz/?tab=comments#comment-2443410
(which I highly recommend reviewing especially the portions about gunplay)

Any comment whether this is returning or not would be nice :)

Once again I apologize for the inconvenience in making this thread. I jumped the gun too quick.

If interested, this was the footage of me overlooking from Zub Castle.

This video doesn't have much substantial purpose and optional to watch but I would like to point out a few things

  • low res terrain texture with longer distance :(
  • view distance is limiting how far we can look into villages/towns (I know this probably can't be fixed, but would it be awesome for 2km view distance and scouting/sniping from that far :O)
  • How high overcast + fog + skies (in this setting) look pretty boring and bland for some reason and not fun to play and explore in. If something could be done about that, it would be awesome (thunderstorms? stormy night weather?!) :)

We would like to bring this back for the future, however, there are no estimates on when or if this will be implemented.

Maybe get the dudes working on ARMA 4 to develop it, and backport it to DayZ ;)
