The entire sound on my pc works except for DayZ. No ingame sound, no menu sound nothing, occasionally the game doesn't even pop up in the sound mixer of Win10. I can use voice chat, though. Only speaking, not hearing. all drivers are up to date, and as I said, everything else [also every other game in steam] works. What can I do?

@bjoernkasan You can come into the Windows control panel, on the way
"Parameters - the System - the Sound - Parameters of devices and the loudness of applications"
Find DayZ in the listed applications. Choose the output device and input of a sound for DayZ.
If you make it at that time when a game worked, perhaps it is necessary to switch off a game and again start.
Hello bjoernkasan.
Have you always been experiencing this issue since installing the game, or has the issue started to occur only recently? Have you tried to verify the game data cache in Steam? And have you tried drifferent sound driver version to see if it has any effect on the issue?
Regards,
Geez
I reinstalled a couple of times, tried different drivers. everything. every other game works.
I actually didn't quite get 100% , what exactly you meant by that. But I think I worked my way through your steps and it didn't work either.
@Lex I revisited your comment and followed our word for word. Still no sound unfortunately.
Is there a problem with the sound output of the built-in sound device if Sound BlasterX G1 is disconnected from the PC?
Are you using the latest Sound BlasterX G1 drivers Version 1.02.09 WHQL?
I did not quite understand. The sound output in the game is good, through the built-in sound device, if Sound BlasterX G1 is disconnected from the PC?
Did you physically disconnect the Sound BlasterX G1 device from the USB port to check the built-in sound device?
There are still two sound output devices in your PC:
- Built-in sound device
- NVIDIA High Definition Audio (for example, if not ATI)
You need to try to disable the second device in the settings, so that Windows would not try to send a sound stream to it.
@bjoernkasan It seems to me very unusual (strange) your observation - "occasionally the game doesn't even pop up in the sound mixer of Win10".
You need to look in the device manager, open sound devices.
Watch if any sound devices disappear when the game starts.
I reduced it to only one output device. So I plug my headphones directly into the front of my PC and disable all the other output devices. This one can not "disappear" for it is in use. There is Teamspeak and maybe YouTube or spotify on that channel, too.
It rather seems to me that Dayz has a problem with DirectX or something. Otherwise... directX works all right. Whenever I start the game, steam says "first installation" and checks some directX stuff.
This problem occurs since I have a brand new PC
For me it's the case that I logged off, came back, no sound.
So, as I logged off this time, with the count down timer, I got sound, but not when logging back in.
The sound does work, it is there, there's just an issue with the game.
I was going to test if it was the server, but I have another problem in the form of not being able to join another server, just goes back to the same character, I'm not a complete noob and know how to do that.
I think I'm going to just play Scum or Miscreated, and hope it magically fixes itself in the future, I have it on the xbone, too, but not sure if I can bring myself to play it on there.
Don't think anything can be done at this point.
In the root folder of the game there is a folder "Redist". It has all the necessary software for the proper start and operation of the game. But the installation of these programs should occur once, when you first start the game. If the start of the game reproduces the software reinstallation, then there is a problem with the software installation.
Sometimes reinstalling the Net framework and Microsoft Visual C ++ may not give a good result. Try to uninstall the programs from the PC and install them after rebooting the PC.
If with "root folder" you mean the normal Steam/steamspps/common folder, then there is no such folder as "Redist"
@bjoernkasan Must be in the game folder - C:\Program files\Steam\SteamApps\common\DayZ_Standalone\Redist
@bjoernkasan Try to check the game files from Steam
Steam> Game DayZ> click right mouse button > properties> local files > check the integrity of the game files - wait until the verification process is complete.
@bjoernkasan See it here С:\Program files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist
@bjoernkasan Try installing each of these programs.

@bjoernkasan Do you already have a sound in the game?
It would be helpful to write your problem solving steps.
Perhaps this will be able to help others with this issue.
