Linux DS: No validation in server config (MaxBandwidth)
Acknowledged, NormalPublic

Description

TADST had created a server config with:

MaxBandwidth = -100663296;

Dedicated Linux server started fine with this and missions appeared to run, but upon connecting the client experienced an infinite loading screen which was impossible to resolve. (Spent the good part of a few evenings on this :-P) With a sensible MaxBandwidth the same server runs at least vanilla missions without any problems.

Resolution

Reproducibility
Always
Operating System
Linux x64
Operating System Version
Debian Testing/Buster
Category
Server
Steps To Reproduce
  1. Install fresh dedicated server using SteamCMD
  2. Create configuration with TADST, insert a very high max bandwith in settings (or just create the configuration manually)
  3. Copy configuration to Linux environment
  4. Set a single mission to run such as "MP_GroundSupport02.Altis"
  5. Run the server and connect with Windows client
Additional Information

Suggested solution: Validate that bandwith etc settings at least are not negative. Either refuse to start or throw a warning in the log.
