DayZ 0.63 Audio Bug
Need More Info, NormalPublic

Description

I am experiencing a game-breaking issue where my audio becomes bugged whenever entering a building in 0.63. I noticed this during an 0.63 Stress Test, and had to try the Offline Mode as well in which I confirmed that the issue still persisted. The audio sounds and works completely fine in previous builds and I have never had a problem, but there is something with the new audio tech that makes my sound bug out. This issue also occurs in Arma 3, which likely has similar, if not the same audio technology. Note: I was able to workaround this by running Arma 3 in 32-bit mode instead of 64-bit (the bug in Arma 3 started with the release of 64-bit, and the bug in DayZ is only in 0.63).

Below is a link from another individual with the same issue. This is what the bug sounds like:

Hello mpxmax and thank you for the report.
Have you tried changing the sample rate in the playback devices properties to see if it has any effect on the issue? If you right click the headphones in windows playback devices list, right click and select "configure speakers", are the audio channels set to "Stereo"? (If the option is present).
Regards,
Geez

Hello Geez.
When doing as you described, the only audio channel that showed up was "7.1 Surround". The option is unfortunately not present. I will look up if there is a way to enable this.

EDIT: I could not find a way to get the Stereo option to show up. The issue persists.

I am experiencing the same problem that OP is having although, the frames drop excruciatingly low while it is happening to me. It feels like I'm crashing in about 60-70% of the buildings I go into. I will get frozen for about a second or more, then be able to move for a second over and over. I'm also running on an AMD FX-6300 so it may be that. My headset is a Logitech G930 and I experience the issue on wireless and wired. Hoping there is a fix soon, this makes the game very hard to play.

Yes, I noticed that this happens too but only sometimes. Not sure if this is just randomly or depending on the specific building.

I am also getting this same annoying audio lag its actually game breaking i was enjoying 63 and loved how smooth everything was running and looking until i went indoors and grfrgrrgwegregrgergergegeg wow its bad lol any updates on this being fixed or whats causing the problem because i don't get this on 62?

I'm not sure if some work has been done on this but it seems a little better in normal-sized houses. I rarely get the audio glitch in small houses but it is still prevalent in large warehouses and shipping containers. Just an update. It still happens from time to time in houses but a lot less than it used to. Still hoping to get this resolved as I cannot find a way to switch the headphones to stereo as some have suggested. If anyone knows a way to do this, let me know. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all my logitech software to see if that would help. No dice. Thanks.

@RiseAxelrod If you're using a USB-headset, try unplugging the two 3.5mm jack-cables (red and green) and plug them directly into the computer without the USB-dongle. This will unfortunately downgrade both the audio and especially the microphone quality, but the issue should be gone. I'm glad to hear that the issue is not as persistent for you, but if the problem gets worse somehow, this should fix the issue. Not the best option (in my opinion), but it is at least an option.

I'm having this issue as well. Any idea when this will be fixed. I have a Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless headset. There is no option other than USB for me and the sample rate is locked. It honestly sounds like when a sound echos it gets stuck in a loop of echoing over and over. The ambient rain sound in the ATC tower for the airfield goes haywire. CPU stops responding properly thus causing the freezing. I'll try and grab a video of the issue if that helps. Not sure how well that will pan out with the way the CPU locks up during this. In case I can't get a recording I'll include a screen grab of what my CPU Usage History looks like in Task manager. It's pretty obvious when I enter the building and everything goes wrong.

The top floor doesn't have that indoor echo/reverb effect that the floor below does.

No idea when this will be fixed if it ever will be, which I don't think. Arma 3 released an update way back (around Apex or before maybe) where the same audio issue occurred, and that problem has not yet been fixed at all. I just wonder how many DayZ fans will boot up 0.63 at full release and face the same disappointment as us.

Anyone know if this has been fixed yet?
