The behaviour you have described in your ticket is correct, it should be possible to zoom in while running. Your ticket has been merged with this one so you can watch the progress on the issue which is causing the inconsistent behaviour.

alright I thought you blocked it on purpose, which I would have preferred by far. Have you ever tried to make something out in a distance while sprinting at full speed? Yes? Then you know why I hoped you intended for blocking the zoom. Please reconsider.
