Additional Information

Things I have tried:

  • I have verified integrity of game files as follows: Restart PC, verify game files, close and restart Steam. Still crashes.
  • I have uninstalled ARMA3 completely and re-installed. Still crashes.
  • I have tried on various servers. Still crashes.
  • Apparently this is related to a memory leak where ARMA runs out of memory, I tried adding "-maxMem=3072", "-maxMem=4096", "-maxMem=6144" and "-maxMem=8192". I cant see how it is a memory problem as I have 16GiB of memory. Still crashes.
  • I have no mods installed.

I know that Linux is not fully supported but I was never getting this error before the 1.8 version update for ARMA3.

Attached .rpt file, Crash Report and computer information files.

Event Timeline

Please assist as soon as possible as this is very frustrating and has been happening ever since the 1.8 update for Linux.

I am having the same problem that started in the last few days in Arch Linux. Not sure if it is ARMA or an updated NVIDIA driver. I have 32GB so really should not be memory.

It seems to be related to how much it is trying to render. If I start the editor on Tanoa and it happens to open with a view you can see the objects pop in further and further and then crash. If it opens looking straight at a hill side then it does not crash but once I start looking around it crashes within minutes.

When I get time I will play with the draw distance and see if that helps. I have a 8GB 1070 so again it should be able to cope and has done up to now.

On one of the forums I was told that I should use "-malloc=system" as a launch parameter, apparently it worked for that guy so I will test and post the outcome here.

Didn't work, got about 15/20mins of gameplay.

This is the latets .rpt file

malloc did not work for me either. If I turn the graphics settings right down then it does not crash. The higher I set them above that the quicker it crashes. When I set to Ultra (which is what I had before and my 1070 never had a problem with) and open with no mods and just go straight to the editor for Tanoa it crashes almost immediately.

Hello.

Thank you for the report. Is this everything from your dumps folder? Weren't there any mdmp or bidmp files?

If you do have mdmp or bidmp files please upload them here or use our guide to upload the complete Arma 3 report.

Thank you.

Hi,

Where would I find those files?
I can only find the files I have attached in the original post.

There are none of those files in this location: /home/<name>/.local/share/bohemiainteractive/arma3/AppDataLocal/Arma 3

The only files there are the .rpt files.

Hmm.

That is bad those files would really help in figuring out what is wrong. Does it happen on a specific server?

Unfortunately it happens on other servers I have tried, many servers I can't play because I don't have the mods.

I play on the 77th jsoc servers mostly.
