AI armor crews do not evade explosion when they exit (cooking armor)
Acknowledged, NormalPublic

Description

I have watched many recent ARMA 3 videos (ZEUS missions that were done in Sept. 2017).

I noticed a constant AI weakness : crews of tanks or other armored vehicles, when 'cooking' (about to blow up), exit but only run a short distance away, stop, and die in the explosion. They need to run further away: simple tweak I presume. It's just very embarrassing and makes it too easy. :P

I also saw some infantry AI run towards a 'cooking' vehicle and die like a fool, but that is a different issue.

Hello.

Could you create a test mission where you can be sure that it always occurs?

That would be easy to do, same for any BI developer mind you. I could also try to find the Youtube videos where it is seen. I watch many Zeus missions from Luetin09, Liru the Lance Corporal. etc.

OK, so I did over 100 tests I think, though I stopped counting so not sure ...

I made a VIDEO, one of my very first on Youtube too.

Note : none of them did a "cookoff" as such in this vanilla version. So the cookoff effect is a mod from what I read. They do, though, sometimes explode on a timer in vanilla. The AI behaves the same in modded Zeus missions you can view online.

Skill Levels : forgot to check that. Would they evade if their skill level was increased ? I do don't think so, but need to test it.

FYI : I checked and the AI Skill level is set to 70 in my settings.

"OK, so I did over 100 tests I think"

And you managed to do it around 6x times If I counted correctly. We are aware of the problem, but it is really rare with no 100% repro.

I as well tried to recreate this issue but most of the time the vehicle either does not explode or explodes right away. So it is really tricky to trigger.

We might get to tweaking the AI, but I can't promise you anything.

I understand what you mean : that specific issue is not a priority in the vanilla version, as tanks or and apc tend to explode rather than have a delayed explosion. When they are about to explode, it is almost always the case though. It happens often in popular Zeus missions because there is a mod that makes tanks "cook" a few seconds before exploding.

In the opinion of many, AI still needs tweaks (but this one is not the most important).
