Change the "Titan AT" back to it`s old performance
New, NormalPublic

Description

The release of the latest update for Arma 3 (Update 1.7) has drastically changed the overall performance of the Titan AT, also called "Titan Mprl Compact". The launcher is no longer effective on short ranges, generated by the new angle of the holding position of the launcher.
Another big problem is, that the rocket appears sluggish, when the wire guide function is used. I dont know if this effect is caused by the holding position or if the maneuverability, sensibility and speed was changed.

Problems:

-> unreliable on short ranges
-> not guideable on targets for short/medium range
-> no use for moving targets, caused by the maneuverability and holding angle (when the wire-guide function is used)

Solution:

-> change it back to its old performance and settings
-> lower the angle of the holding position and change the maneuverability, sensibility and speed if it was changed

I believe this request would be supported by a lot of people who spent time practicing the Titan AT

Thank you for your effort in advance,
[GTP] Paul

EDIT:

I have made a request and asked people in our Arma 3 community (most of them play King of the Hill and others Wasteland or Exile)
The question was, if the Titan AT should be changed back to it's old performance?

Most of the Arma 3 players voted for yes, I would be happy if you could take a look at this: https://strawpoll.com/7xwe54w4

Pls revert

-1, keep it that way please

It would be nice to have a switch on two flight trajectories on the missiles:

  • straight
  • high, canopy from the top down

+1, change it back please revert it, would love to play old AT, now there isnt much fun with the new one, flies very slowly, almost impossible to wireguide.

+1 change it back to it`s old Performance, please.

+1 Please change it back to the old Performance

-1 Let it like this, just give it more damage and give the player a chance to see the missile. On long range its hard to say where the missile is actually. I have no problems with the changed AT launcher

-1 Don't change it. People need to get used to it.

+1 Never understood why they needed to change it, was fine the way it was

It was totally fine, I don't use it anymore its not effective like it was before, I would buy this game again just to get the old launcher back.

Even if you don't change it, because your community is not important enough to provide a solution, you still need to fix it.

the rocket disappears after about 1-1.5km, it keeps flying but you don't see it anymore

The rocket is slower than a sports hatchback which is redicoulus. EVERY other rocket in the game is atleast 2 times as fast. There is no point wireguiding because by the time your AT rocket reaches your target, the enemy tank would have moved or has had enough time to look around and spot you(koth). Not to mention that the rockets of the kamysh/gorgan are useless now because of the earlier stated reasons since those are the same ones, Titan AT.

I would better buff the Alamut again. I just noticed it that it is pretty useless now vs Tigris's, when i played on Ivans Account. I don't see myself coming back to King of the Hill, if they don't change the damage of Alamut.

Have you even tried the at, its crap right now, there is no getting used to it, the range is limited, the damage is lower, the speed is way lower, the launching angle is fu**** up and it disappears after 1km and you don't know where you are shooting at. Don't get me wrong I respect you opinion but almost everyone who used it frequently has a big issue with it now. The number of guys who play AT has drastically decreased, you barely get even targeted in a tank.

+1 please change it back
I want to wire guide tanks, but can't see the rocket anymore after like 1000 meter.

i played the AT recently. I'm more annoyed about the Alamut, that litterly deals no Damage. I mean how are you going now to steal Tanks, when Alamut deals no Damage. Or get the wonderful 2x kill glitch?

Everything is gone for me. All the things i was good at, are gone for me. And people know that i'm not buying any armned vehicles.

+1 change it back to it`s old Performance, please.

Dear Bohemia Interactive Team it would be nice if anyone could have a look at this task.

Hey, thanks for the report!

The last Dev-Branch update increased Titan's maneuverability. This improves both IR and manual guidance.

Titan's minimum range is currently ~60m. With the latest update the missiles should be able to hit quite reliably even at their min. range.
The NLAW (or RPG) are much more suited for the short range engagements. Conversely Titan has much higher range, packs more punch and has a slightly better impact angle.

The missiles' speed has been changed to correspond with real speeds of shoulder-launched AT missiles. Previously they were unrealistically fast.

OT re Alamut - there has been no change. However it's by no mean a weapon to cause a tank catastrophic kill.

"The missiles' speed has been changed to correspond with real speeds of shoulder-launched AT missiles. Previously they were unrealistically fast."

I have to say that I disagree with you, in that point.
Arma plays in the future (if I remember 2030) that means that the technology will be better. Even if you have a look at some of the actual shoulder mounted AT launchers,
only old ones which were developed a long time ago have a speed of about 600km/h, thats what the Titan has at the moment if I calculated it correcrtly.

a few examples:

FGM-148 Javelin
developed 1980, speed of 720km/h

M47 Dragon
developed 1966, speed of 720km/h

BGM-71 TOW
developed 1960, speed of 1000,8-1152km/h

AT-13 Saxhorn-2
developed 1980, speed of 1033,2km/h

Almost every missile which is used at this day have a higher speed than the Titan AT, what makes it even worse is that Arma plays in the future.

"Titan's minimum range is currently ~60m"
Doesn't work for me at all:

Titan can reach about ~750km/h when launched from a carrier @ 0 speed. (@ sea level - air density is not simulated). I can provide an img with the actual flyout perf. (similar to https://forums.bistudio.com/forums/topic/200467-jets-sensor-overhaul-radars-irs-lazors-pgms/?do=findComment&comment=3196536).

Increasing speed may not be desired for these weapon systems even in the future.
PGMs gameplay in Arma is scaled down in terms of range when compared to real life. We may sometimes scale other properties accordingly in order to achieve authentic engagements and authentic pros/cons of weapon systems use in specific scenarios.

Re last - the version you're using on the video doesn't look like the Dev-Branch. Please ref.: https://dev.arma3.com/dev-branch

Titan's minimum range is currently ~60m.

There is not in 1.72 \ DEV - such a range for Titan. Since at 1.70 the angle between the sight of the gunner and the direction of the launcher was changed. Try to shoot in a range of up to 600 meters, and see what you get out of it.

Hello oukej, after trying the launcher for a few times on DEV i've came up with 2 problems, but before i go there, i want to say that maneuverability was indeed improved, so short range is not a problem anymore. But now onto the problems, first problem is the view distance, after the missile is launched, its perfect, particles come up, rocket is visible, as soon as it gets ~1.2km away, the rocket particle dissapears, making it invisible for the soldier to see where its going, this is a really big problem if target is more than 1.2km away AND if is moving at the same time its very hard to hit the target, this problem does not occur in Mi-48 Kajman the SCALPEL ATGM missiles, aswell as in AH-99 Blackfoot DAGR missiles. 2nd problem is the speed, iam not saying it should be reverted back to what it was, but making it slightly more faster would make it more viable when shooting in long ranges as the target is moving, when target is static thats a different case scenario. In this video i represent the view distance problem, video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f53NxSF1GIE&feature=youtu.be timestamps:
0:00 - Missile is launched, particles are visible. (No thermals)
0:07- Missile is still flying, particles are gone, very hard to predict the missile.
0:42 - Missile is launched, particles are visible. (Black Hot Mode)
0:49 - Missile is still flying, particles are gone, very hard to predict the missile.

Keep in mind that this is happening on short range(1.7km). I think that 11seconds for 1.7km is too slow,as i said just a little increase on speed, would make it much more better. But view distance is a must.

+1, the AT launcher was a way to compensate for the enemys quantity through your own quality / skill. At least improve missile speed or make a switch between top and direct mode.
