Arma 3 suddenly stopped working, 3 different error types on launch
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The three errors I get are:
0x80000002 - STATUS_DATATYPE_MISALIGNMENT
0xC0000005 - STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
0xC0000409 - STATUS_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN

Every time I launch Arma 3 through the launcher, the game crashes and gives me one of these three errors before loading into the game. The error I get seems to be random, although the second and third errors that I've listed above are more common than the first one.

This error started appearing a week ago. I've logged hundreds of hours in Arma before this, and have never had this problem. I updated all my GPU drivers, checked all my recently installed assorted drivers, ran MemTest86 for hours (no errors), and fully reinstalled Arma. I'd be glad to provide crash logs if needed.

Thanks for your help!

@MrFlynn00, regarding the 0xC0000005 - STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error could you try the possible solutions listed here?

Could you also prepare a troubleshooting report and upload that to either the feedback tracker or to a free file sharing service if the former does not work?

razazel changed the task status from New to Need More Info.

Thanks for the suggestions! I went through the list trying all of them, but got no results.

Here is the report I created through the launcher.

Hello,

thank you for the report.

Could you please try to run the Arma 3 with your Antivirus software disabled (only temporarily for the sake of this single test)? Or you can try to add an exception for the Arma 3 executables. In your case it should be a Windows Defender. We have received similar reports where AV software caused the game not to start (confirmed for AVG and BitDefender).

Thank you

Tried it with Windows Defender, but no luck, unfortunately (same errors). I had also disabled MalwareBytes beforehand, since I assumed that could be a source of issues, but that didn't change anything either.

Thank you for the info :)

Could you please try to switch to development branch to see whether the issue is present there as well?

Just finished downloading dev branch. Same errors appear.
Should I switch back to the man branch?

I think the developers may like another troubleshooting report. This time from the development branch.

Thank you very much.

Thank you very much.

Any updates?

Thanks!

Would you mind trying to switch to an RC branch?

What is RC Branch?

Arma 3 Steam Branches

How to switch to RC Branch
Steam > right-click Arma 3 > Properties > Betas > Insert code > select RC in combo box

Right-o, updating now.

Right, here's the resultant error report.
