Auto gamma adjustment makes the game pitch black
Assigned, WishlistPublic

Description

Hi,

Until now, when I started a fire, looking at the fire source would make environment slightly darker, which was a bit exaggerated but not a problem. I should also state that this was prior to 0.52. I should also say that I never played in 0.52 update so I don't know if this is valid in 0.52 as well.

Anyway, in 0.53 stable version, when I start a fire, screen goes completely black when I look at the light source. Apart from the fireplace, I can't see anything. I know this is not a bug, this is a feature, but it's really out of control at the moment. I will also be uploading a video and link it in additional information box, hoping it will help you identify the problem.

Fixed in 0.54

Edit: Seems like people are still having this problem. So please don't mark the report as fixed.

Not for me it's not. When I look directly at a fire everything goes totally black. Happened to two of my friends too but another friend was unaffected.

@Simon, can you try with different shadow quality settings please? Mine was set to Very High in the video. HDR quality was set to Low.

Mine is on Normal. And HDR is also Low.
Are you the same BluesAdam from Oldskool Dayz where everyone gets your name wrong in the shoutbox :D

Some say I'm BlueAdams, some say Blues Adams, I'm not even sure myself:D

Greetings from a fellow oldschooler ;)

OT: Noticed it myself in .53, didn't check in .54

The way the game simulates the adaptation of the eyes is overdone excessively. But I suppose it is pointless to change this prior to the finishing of the allmighty renderer and/or rather the switch to a less old directX API

Upvoted nonetheless.
