Let us carry more Bags/Items
New, WishlistPublic

Description

Due to the manyfold and increasing trials which we survivors have to endure, it would be a charm if we could carry more items/bags - either on our bodies or in our hands.

Maybe one backpack on the back, one on the front and a gun in one and another backpack in the other hand or similar.

We need more and more things, e.g. the rope for the fishing hook can only be used once, hence you need a few ropes to go successfully on a fishing tour ( and survive on fish ). Or shoes - they wear much faster now and you need at least one extra pair to roam the wilderness. You need clothing as rain does take effect as does heat or cold - you need to dress accordingly. All items eat up precious space which is also needed for food and drinks.

Hence, I would love to have the opportunity to carry more than one backpack with me - in real life, one would certainly do that :)

I understand your point, Biggi.

But as this is a survival game, I don't think having a whole suitcase worth of equipment on you is what they'd want to achieve. I think the game is also about making choices and adapting as you go. Surviving with "next to nothing".

However, should they decide to go that way, they should also implement some kind of a penalty (reduced movement speed, reduced rotating speed, slower actions (like making a fire, chopping down wood, because of all the equipment you're carrying).

Yes, that would be it. You cannot have the one ( more items ) without the other ( lower speed, etc. ). You can then still choose which way to go.

Great suggestion!

Good idea. Speed of movement of course goes down.

There are plenty of ways to expand your inventory space already. You can have a mountain backpack, military shirts and pants, and a high capacity vest, and have enough room to carry everything you could possibly need. That's 59 slots; if you get a Smersh vest and backpack you can bump it up to 63. And that doesn't even count layering your inventory in medkits and storage boxes, which can bump your capacity up to a hard maximum of 87 slots.

Inventory management is an important part of a survival game, and if they just let you get as much inventory space as you wanted then the 'survival' part wouldn't be as important. Balancing between food, ammo, spare clothing, and equipment is just part of the game, and you'd better get used to it.

Well, what I did was stick a trouser with 6 slots in a trouser with 6 slots, giving you 2 extra, another trouser with 6 slots, etc.

Unfortunately, after a server reset or logout, all trousers in the trousers were gone.

Yo dawg, I heard you'd like more bags, so we can put bag in a bag in a bag in a bag...... in a bag in a bag so can have bags while carrying a bag.

yeah - if not half of them disappeared with your next log-in :)

No need for this - currently you can carry a shitload of stuff without any drawbacks. I would rather like to see a weight system introduced that affects movement when carrying a lot.

To be able to carry more tools etc. there should be other solutions:
(1) Team up with somebody and share tools.

> increase tool rarity and durability

(2) Find a vehicle or tent to store your items in.

> implementation of vehicles and persistence

(3) Carry a container in your hands (movement and weight penalties apply)

> allow carrying backpacks etc. in hands

Throw the lumber over man! Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.

being able to take a backpack into hands would be plausible, I think. You can pack 5 pcs. of wood on your hands, but only 3 in your backpack. Why not let me carry another backpack instead of a second wepon. If I need to attack, I'll need to drop the backpack with everything in it, thats quite an impact already.

Once again, I believe this is the wrong way of going about things.

We don't need more storage space.

We need a more realistic inventory system.

A box of matches or a fishing hook do not take up as much storage space as a can of beans. Period.

@Geez hi :)

Maybe close this ticket as obsolete?
