Scope jumps around erratically, player apparently injured but no status in inventory, splint fixes issue
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I have repeatedly had the case that my mosin LR scope sways around from side to side like mad. This seems to occur after a zombie attack has injured me and I fixed myself up with a rag / bandage. Today my green hoodie was also ruined, so it may have been a strong zombie attack. Then again I could swear I also had this once although I was certainly never injured.

I waited extra long to make sure this had nothing to do with stamina.

Crafted a splint and used it.

Scope movement is gentle again, holding breath causes it to almost stand still.

Made a video of my standard zoom as well as max zoom when holding breath, before and after re-examined it and realised it was a world of a difference.

I made a .wmv video file of this (4 MB) but can't upload it!

This is so annoying. Needs more status icons.

Hi ColonelBurton,
the video should be uploadable if you put it in a .zip file, could you please try that?

A.

If you compare the scope behaviour at the 0:05 minute mark as well as the 0:53 minute mark, you will see the difference.

I can confirm experiencing this issue after relatively minor hits from zombies. No pain noise, no status messages, just a significant scope sway that does not improve after your breath returns to normal, and even Hold Breath had little effect in .48. (Broken in .49) However, applying a splint or Morphine immediately corrected the weapon sway. It does not happen every time. I just get in the habit of applying a splint automatically after leaving a zombie area if I've taken a hit.

Apparently zeds break limps without the resulting status messages and indicators.

Hey everyone,
looking deeper into this revealed that it is linked to various general mechanics of the damage system, which is a subject to an eventual overhaul in the future.
Sadly, the issue will not be getting fixed at the moment as it relies on various other aspects of the system which will get looked into first.
Regards,
Andy
