Finding food and water really isn't that difficult. If you're new, continue playing and learn the places you should be looking. Or, checkout beginner guides. You can also play on community servers with boosted loot to help you learn basics.

@Geez Just an update...I logged back in the next day and the walls seemed to be working fine, and have all weekend. No idea what was happening there!
