Map coordinates will almost surely not happen, as this feature would be quite immersion breaking. Same with creating 'groups' - won't happen.
In-game maps will display 'YOU ARE HERE' sign to help you navigate the wilderness.
To counter the night time - use light sources. There are plenty of glowsticks and flashlights around, alternatively craft a torch.
Zombies should be relatively easy to stealth kill with a heavy melee weapon from behind. Try using a splitting axe and alike.
