Shoot a Z and look for blood
OR
Shoot a wall/tree that shows bullet holes and count them
Tested both shotgun types with 2 other players
Manual loading or snap-loader has no effect.
Restarting DayZ has no effect.
Damage seems to be for a single pellet. (some Zs took 3-4 shots)
0.48 - Still fires single pellet, but damage seems to be greater than 1 pellet. Can kill zombies in 1 shot to head, body, or limbs. Have yet to test on players.
Event Timeline
I can confirm this for the sawn off shotgun. Its a single pellet and not quite accurate - no wonder the weapon is considered weak.
Can confirm.
short clip of evidence, sorry it's not better.

Hello,
we are aware of this issue and are already working on a fix.
Please keep monitoring this issue for future updates on the situation.
Thank you for your feedback!
Just adding this from a duplicate:
I could fire 6-8 times but out of those only two shots did produce a bullet hole. Same issue with and without using a snaploader.
(Shotgun is producing "fake shots" as well)
Thought "Items: tweaked shotguns dispersions and recoils" would've fixed the issue.
Still fires single pellet (should be 9) in 0.48.124737.
Does anyone actually know what caused this?
The shotgun dispersion worked perfectly fine in .43 or earlier.
The only thing wrong, not considering some issues with shells not ejecting, was that the muzzle velocity was ~900m/s instead of ~400m/s.
The current buckshot acts just like the slug shells should do.
There is a new bug in which you can't eject loaded shells from the shotgun. I have submitted a tracker here:
http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=14812
I can confirm that the shotgun fires a single "pellet" which seems to be doing a large amount of damage however.
Shooting walls/players/zombies only creates a single large impact. I've taken a screenshot of the impacts on a wall: http://i.imgur.com/84st9v3.jpg
That is 3 separate rounds from roughly 20m. I have tested further distances and the impact is the same, so it is not merely a very tight cone and stays consistent.
This bug has been fixed internally and will be patched in the next update that comes out.
Thank you for your feedback, your reports were greatly appreciated!
