Minimizing; game running but can not see graphics
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

At first, I noticed my game minimizing a lot and i thought it was random- I use two monitors and i noticed that while viewing my inventory, my mouse will be able to move around and click on desktop items on my second monitor; causing my game to minimize.

Other times my game acts like it minimized, but i still have audio and can not maximize the game or alt/tab etc. The only way i have found to resolve this is to use task manager to force quit DayZ.

occasionally game will crash similar with "DayZ has stopped working."

seems to be random, but will always happen when using inventory system and then clicking on second monitor.

Additional Information

Of my group of 8 gamers, myself and a friend are the only two that have minimizing and crashing behaviors described; and we also happen to be the only two with multiple monitors.. I have read other similar posts in the past and am wondering if this is simply just a correlation that was never connected.

Can confirm, when you're in your inventory you can move your mouse to the second monitor what forces the game to minimize if you click somewhere. I never did get crashes or similar though and always was able toopen the game again without any problems.

though the problem is quite frustrating, it's a huge comfort to hear someone else mention it.. i thought i had a bad GPU or something.

every so often, and always when interacting with the inventory, my screen will go black for 1-2 seconds with a "No Signal to Monitor" message, then it recovers to the desktop.

DayZ is "minimized" but still running. I can hear all game sounds, but cannot get the graphics to return, requiring me to force quit the game and re-open.

this has caused me to die to zombies and other players, and lose lots of gear (not a big deal, as it's alpha, but still quite frustrating to lose hours of work to something like this)

unlike the OP, I only use a single monitor.

This problem has only been happening since this past weekend, or maybe since the most recent patch (I play on experimental servers)

I've been having this problem, the only thing is, I only have one monitor. It will randomly alt tab out on it's own. And I can't get back in without ctrl+alt+del, and restarting. If I click anywhere I can hear my gun firing but I'm still on my desktop. Sometimes I play for 30 mins and it happens, sometimes only for ten minutes. It doesn't matter if I'm in my inventory, in the woods, or in a city.

this is happening to a lot of people, and this report keeps falling off of the top of the list.

this issue should be addressed ASAP.

This week it becomes very often that the game minimized and i get only me mouse back in Windows until i press control + alt + del and Start the taskmanager to shut down the game because its impossible to maximize it back.
It was told to me that the mouse moving in Windows is also done in the game until the game is closed.

This is like a game crash

Two times in 4 hours each day i play it is TOO much. Please fix it.

Hello,

Please let us know in the note section if you are still able to reproduce this issue on the latest Experimental build.

If so, please send us a dxdiag report and files from this folder: "C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\DayZ\"

If the *.rar is smaller than 5.000KB, you can attach it here.
In case it's larger than that, please try uploading it to a file sharing website and link it here.

For future reports please refer to the "How to guide" http://feedback.dayzgame.com/how-to-user.html

Thank you.

@Accolyte:
Because the game is minimized, unable to maximum, so i have to shot down the game over the task-manager, you need my files also?
Btw: i have only one monitor

Edit:

i posted them on an other issue:
http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=9438 [^]

But if you need my datas when this happens again, you have to wait ;). I don't know which part change doing the gameplay.

Same issue here,

No particular change (no drivers update, no dayz update) and the issue occurs.
The only thing is geforce experience whitch recognize the game to update graphics.
Since then i've remove the software and the issue goes up.

For me the game never crash.

Even on start i must bring the windows to front for the game to load normaly.
My try:
Update my drivers (to version 335.23) same issue.
Install the experimental version of dayz same issue
gone back to the stable version.
Deleted /user/mydoc/dayz/dayz.cfg the game won't maximize even on start.

The only way for me to access the desktop and then going back to the game is to put the windowed param to 1 in dayz.cfg
So the game can minimize and maximize normaly.
