I was playing last night (2/11/2014), but this morning when I attempted to log into a server to play, I received this error. I've seen this has happened quite a bit in the past, but all of the things I have seen to check to fix this are not working for me.
Is this a known issue? If so, what can be done to fix it?
Log into DayZ standalone.
Access any server (all have a red X in front of their names).
Update - I went to the properties for DayZ in Steam and set it to join Betas, then went back in and turned it off. This prompted me to take the DayZ update, which I am doing now. I bet that will fix this issue, but I will post another update when I know for sure.

Steam is horrible at updating the game on its own at times. I have it set to normal update priority, so it should trigger by itself. But I have had to set it to experimental build, then go back to normal in order to force an update, after the hotfix was released yesterday. I got the same error before I did this.

I have try the procedure of

I have also deleted the files and re-installed the game.
still does not work
My game version is 0.36.115297 but the server versions are .35.115188
So I cant join.

You're running the experimental build. You need to play on experimental (0.36) servers or set your game back to stable to play on 0.35 servers.
You can go back to stable by right clicking DayZ in steam, selecting Properties, Betas tab and selecting NONE - Opt out of all beta programs from the drop down box.
