canned food is by far the most common yet can openers rarely spawn. I have encountered a total of one on a play session that lasted well over 5 hours with hardly anyone on a server. If people were actually online the ods would be even lower the rng for can openers needs to go up slightly....not too much but higher then it is, I also have not seen any match books at all considereing you can get a cooking stove and matchbooks take sticks rock and other mats to craft a campfire and take up inventory space you would think that the camp fire supplies would be teh more readily found items and the cooking stove would be the rare one however i found a coking stove and several gas containers as well as rocks and sticks but no matches....I don't know if parity was intended but if one takes up much less inventory space why ever get it? the advantage of the matches should be it's accessability at the cost of inventory slots compared to a cooker with a gas can attached....I think some spawn balancing is in order....

I got a popup message once that the can-opener-texture couldn't be displayed. I made a screenshot, but instead of a pic of the game I got one of my desktop instead... so maybe they just aren't visible. Finding stuff via vicinity tab is damn near impossible at times even though you could just middle mousebutton click and take it this way.
I have found matches once before, but could not figure out how to start a fire with them
They are not that rare! Look in 2 story buildings at the "working room", the one with the desktop in it. Mostly there are any of them (the last i was in hold 3 can openers on the desk)
There should be some permanent spots where can opens spawn. i.e in every some houses on kitchen counter. but make that spawn 30% of actually spawning one.
Match boxes are extremely common for me, found a box of 64, then 70, now I'm up to a box with 80 matches. Who cares if can openers aren't that common, just use a sharp object.

JalapaJuiceJerry and Jo, you should check the date when writing on reports. This thread was created when you couldn't use sharp objects to open cans. At least 2 patches happened in the meantime.

Hi,
matchboxes are in the game for a while now.
As already mentioned, cans can be opened with various sharp tools (axe, knife, bayonet etc.)
As your report was about the unability of opening canned fooed, this shouldn't be an issue anymore as there's a lot of tools which you can open them with.
If you should still consider the rarety of can openers an issue, please feel free to open a new ticket for that.
