Arma 3 wont start due to 'Arma3.exe - Bad image'
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When I attempt to start my arma 3 game off the client, I click play and I am met by this error message. http://gyazo.com/6c171867eb11c85eb99b138297dbe0af . I am launching the game in dev mod as it wont work in normal mode. I have tried downloading direct X11 off the Microsoft website many times, I have tried validating the cache a lot as well. I even deleted the D11 files out my Arma 3 folder and then validated again, it didn't work. I also reinstalled the game twice, still broken.

Additional Information

I went to my friends house, copy pasted his version of arma 3 off his PC onto a hard drive, then copy pasted that over my version in an attempt to past any missing files, this still didn't work.

Hello,

Could you give us your last rpt- file? (users\username\AppData\Local\Arma 3).

It seems that your error comes from DirectX. Try to reinstall it via:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010.
You just have to start DXSETUP.exe and to follow the installation instructions.

Have you already tried to start the game by not passing through the Arma3 luncher? (i.e. without Steam)
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3 => arma3.exe

François.

Hello,
Thank you for reporting the issue.
We need crash dump files from this folder to analyze your problem.
C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Can you upload somewhere in winrar package, please?
Archive smaller than 5000 KB can be attached directly to the ticket. For bigger archives, please use some free sharing service and post link here.

How to find correct crashdump file:
Try to make the crash happen
Look into crashdump folder
Upload crashdump with latest date in name (crashdump is rpt + bidmp + mdmp file with same name). Please try to provide as many crashdumps as possible, it helps us investigating the problem in a big way.

Thank you.

As hit001 suggested try starting the game without launcher. This can be done by either navigating into your Arma 3 folder and launching arma3.exe or starting Arma 3 from steam with parameter -nolauncher. You can set parameter for the game by right clicking Arma 3 in your library. Selecting properties and clicking set launch options from the general tab. Thank you.

Hi sorry for the late reply, I did try this before and it does not work. I am also running the game in 'dev mode' This didn't work aswell. I did the -nolauncher in both dev and normal mode, again no result unfortunately.
