Magic "map spotting"
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi guys,
I'm trying for a while to bring more realism to our gameserver without scarrying all ARMA newbies. So I decided to deactivate the magic "map spotting" of other players on the map.
Most of you will know it:
If activated on a multiplayer server that means, that any player is able to see the position of other players on the map as soon as his avatar has spotted them. So one player of a squad can fly around with a helicopter and all his group mates will see the position of vehicles and infantry on the map, kind of gamebraker in my oppionion...

As I said, I don't want to scare the newbies, so I want to let them see their OWN position on map - but nothing else. (that's why I can't manage it with the difficulty settings: If the server runs on regular ALL objects and players are shown on map, if it runs on veteran NOTHING (not even the own position) is shown on map.

Is there any type of cfg. command that I can use to manage that problem? I couldn't find anything in the forums and I'm not smart enough to create it on my own. xD

Thank you for your answers.
Greetings,
DieHardly

Yes, I've already found this list, but it doenst show me how the exact command is called that i have to type in my cfg to deactivate spotting and let the own position be shwon on map.
I know it will be sound weird, but I'm really new to ARMA server configuration and this list doesn't help me to be honest. :(

I need somebody who tells me:"you have to type "showPlayerOnMap="1"; and "ShowOtherPlayersOnMap="0" " for example....

Sorry, but I'm a little fool I think :(
