Why Sound Suppressor exist is in the game!?
Today it only reduces the destructive power of bullets!
What other reasons?
Being in a singleplayer game or editor, when I shoot from cover, in the laying position, using a Sound Suppressor against bots, I see what any bots instantly find my fire-position! Why so? It's not right! It's not realistic, because I use Sound Suppressor! Bots should not instantly detect the player, if he uses the visual shelter and Sound Suppressor!

I remember "Operation Flashpoint", where if you used a weapon with Sound Suppressor, then the enemy bots were not able to immediately detect player! They ran, shouted, looking around. It was adequate reaction and it was very realistic!
Why do we not see this in ArmA3?
Sound Suppressor should have sense in the game!

  1. Open editor.
  2. Place enemy squad.
  3. Place player with Sound Suppressor behind of enemy squad (15-25 meters).
  4. Hide in the bushes with laying position and shoot.
Additional Information

I propose a simple solution.
The player cannot be detected immediately, if distance to nearest enemy bot more than "Z" meters!
In this case player uses Sound Suppressor can be detected only if this player is delayed on his fire point and only after "X" seconds.

Thus the player will need to change the fire point every "Y" seconds and at the same time not to approach the enemy is closer than "Z" meters.

The value "Z" can be for example 15-20 meters.
The value "X" may have for example the random value between 10 and 30 seconds.
The value "Y" should be accordingly < "X" value.

I haven't experienced this problem, to be honest.

Yes, eventually the AI pinpoint my position, but single shots are never detected (unless taken at point blank range).

I placed myself 700m away above stratis airbase and put some AI below, and I was able to fire all 9 mags of my 7.62 Rahim and was never spotted. I tried again at ~250m, and they still didn't notice me after a whole mag. How fast are you firing your weapon?

I think the Sound Suppressor is intended for more close ranges.
700m-250m!!! You are running very long distances.
Try to shoot from back in the bot on the range of 15-25 meters! I think the enemy not should you detect, but bot instantly detect you!

I used both firing modes. Fast or not does not matter.

Also, I use the full AI skills = 100%. Maybe it does!?
In any skill the AI should not have influence on this(

I never use 100% skill because it makes the AI too powerful
they see you too well

I use always 100% skill of AI, and 35% AI accuracy.

Any skill the AI not should have influence on detection soldiers with Sound Suppressor, because human possibilities are limited!

suppressors in real life do make the gun quieter, but they aren't magical. The sound of a suppressed gun is still very loud without subsonic ammunition (which isn't in the game right now).

Even a Welrod suppressed pistol is still 73 dB. This means it still would bring some attention, even if it's close to a door slamming. Nevermind some bigger guns that would make a bigger noise, and probably bring attention from a 100m radius.

Stupidity! If the Sound Suppressor is able to attract enemy attention in a radius of 100 m, then it is not a Sound Suppressor! This is condom!
