[REQUEST] Camera to Stay Locked In Uncontrolled UAV
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Ctrl+T *does* lock the target as it should, but whenever I release control of the UAV, the camera/laser points at the location the vehicle was at when I left control of the UAV.
This renders the Ctrl+T effectively useless for anything but manned control of the UAV.

Steps To Reproduce

In the editor on Stratis, place 3 things:
a. BLUFOR UAV Operator
b. BLUFOR AR-2 Darter
c. OPFOR Ifrit

Place the UAV Op. somewhere hidden in Stratis AB (as to not scare the Ifrit). Set him as "Player"

Place the AR-2 anywhere above Stratis AB, and set it to "Flying"

Place the Ifrit at one end of Stratis AB Runway, and set up waypoints so that he drives up and down the runway.

Preview the mission. Take control of the AR-2 with the UAV Terminal.
Place your crosshairs over the Ifrit and lock onto it with Ctrl+T. Press the Left Mouse Button to enable the laser designator. The laser and camera will follow the Ifrit.

Release control of the UAV. Press ESC. and enter the Splendid Camera. Switch to WHOT FLIR mode and set the time acceleration to 1x (normal time).

Watch the location of the Laser designation. The laser spot will stop following the Ifrit.

Exit the Splendid camera.

Re-assume control of the AR-2's turret

You will see the camera slew from the previous position (where it stopped tracking) to resume tracking the vehicle again.

You can lock the camera on followed unit by Ctrl+T shortcut (only in dev branch so far). This way a UAV operator can decide himself whether to lock the camera on a followed unit or not.

Can we please have scripting command to mimic ctrl t?

Ah I see, I believe I tested this before Ctrl+T was actually added. Will the camera stay locked on the target even if the player stops controlling the UAV? I noticed that was an issue before Ctrl+T.

Yes, it stays locked even when you release the UAV controls. Script command for camera locking added: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/lockCameraTo

Marking as resolved.

Bumping this back up. It still doesn't seem to work. I tell the UAV to follow a target and then use Ctrl+T to lock onto the target. The camera follows it while I am controlling it, but as soon as I release control the tracking stops. Updating the ticket.

Please set the status of the ticket back to 'NEW'

Should be fixed in current dev branch version of the game. Marking as resolved.
