Cannot Open Game
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I cannot open the game. I bought the game about two months ago using Steam. At that time, when I would double click the desktop icon it would go through the initial loading screen. . .preparing addons. . .initializing addons . . etc. . .Then my screen would go black and the Arma3 icon would come up and it would start loading something else.( sorry, I no longer remember what was loading) All of a sudden my laptop would crash with GPU crash and my laptop would restart. Every time I would try to open the same thing would happen. So, I tried updating NVIDIA drivers, that didn't work, still same GPU crash. I then tried installing old NVIDIA drivers that other players said they still use and the game works fine for them. Still, same problem persisted.

Finally, I installed the Beta NVIDIA driver (other players said they were having similar problems and this worked for them). After I installed this my GPU crash problem disappeared. But unfortunately a new one started.

Now when I try to open Arma3 it goes through the initial loading screen . . .loading addons. . .initializing addons. . etc. Once that is completed the loading screen disappears and the icon disappears from my task bar. I try to double click the desktop icon again and get this error message: Steam error: Failed to Start Game (App already running).

When I go in to task manager I can see that it "looks" like it is running but can not bring the game up anywhere.

Steam thinks the game is running because my ingame hrs increases until I end task Arma3.

Any help you could provide would be much appreciated. It's acting like the game is running but I can't bring it up anywhere!! help!! :) {F23929}

Additional Information

Yes, I have tried opening in the Steam Library in the past and just to make sure I tried again. Got the same results. Here is a little more info that I forgot on the original post. During the time my GPU was crashing I had also tried several different Launch command codes in steam as well, some including; -nobenchmark -nologs -nosplash and a couple others if I remember correctly. No help thought.

Thanks for your help. :)

Hello,

could you please upload your DX-Diag file? It would help us a lot.
Also, have you tried to start the game directly from Steam Library?
You can find how to get your file here:

Thank you.

Also have tried opening in windows mode as well. I have uninstalled and re-installed the game at least three times.

IS there anymore info that you need?

Hello,
it looks that you have Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, integrated graphics with no dedicated memory. To run Arma, you need a dedicated graphics card with minimum of 512 MB dedicated memory (recommended is 1 GB).

It is possible that you already have dedicated card, but for some reason it does not work properly (f.e. is damaged or not clipped in its slot).

There is sadly nothing we can do for you. Sorry for inconveniences.

I have a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M. I have all my settings to use this card instead of integrated graphics. Though damage of some sort is plausible, I play Dayz and Planetside2 on almost a daily basis with no problems. I have only experienced problems with Arma3.
