Massive freezes and maximum CPU utilization in MP-Lobby
Assigned, WishlistPublic

Description

Hello BI,
I am experiencing massive lags and freezes in the Mulitplayer lobbys. When I join, the lobby starts to load and freezes all the time for up to 15 seconds. Its hard to choose a slot and join into the game because I just have one second until the next fps drop happens.

The laggs are depending on the number of Clients connected to the server, my CPU utilization is all the time at the limit (Taskmanager says 99%) for no reason.

I am playing on a low specs computer, perhaps this could be a reason for that. Specs below:

OS: Win7 Home Premium + Servicepack 1
CPU: Dual Core 2,8Ghz; (overclocked)
RAM: 2Gb DDR3-800;
GPU: GTX 550Ti

No firewall, no antivirus-software, good internet bandwidth.

Would be great if you find a way to reproduce and solve the problem, otherwise its not possible to play multiplayer games. {F23781} {F23782} {F23783}

Hello,

could you please try to switch to Steam Dev and see if the problem is still present?

You can find how to change to Steam Dev here:
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?149411-How-to-change-Arma-3-branches-between-STABLE-amp-DEVELOPMENT-versions-STEAM-client

Also, are you using Steam server list or Game-Spy? (can be switched at the top right corner of the server list)

Thank you very much.

I was using the GameSpy serverlist - now I updated to the dev build. I was not able to reproduce the problem because there are no dev servers with more than 5 players. So I joined a server with 5 players on and again a CPU utilization up to 90%. (this also happens by creating a local lan game)

But now there is one more problem: The steam serverlist does not stop loading servers, means the list is growing and growing and the CPU utilization is again at the limit (also when I use the gamespy list) (I attached a screenshot of the Taskmanager).

Hope the information are enought!
Kind regards

BIS_Iceman i can confirm the problem.
Steps how i can reproduce the issue is:
join in a server lobby, wait about 5sek and know the complete game lag massive, its quite hard to assign a role and play enter game.

This affect everywhere.
Using Steam DEV or stable all the same.
RPT tell nothing about it.

Hello,

could you please upload your Dx-diag file? Thank you very much!

NOTE: I have the nearly same problems in A2. When I join a lobby the CPU utilization is up to 90%. Its not just ArmA 3.

It wasnt improved in the latest version, any news yet?

Hello,
we are still trying to optimise the Server list screen, however we are very limited by Steamworks technology. More fixed and optimisations are about to come.

Alright, thanks for your time!

So after one year nothing changed - my DualCore is still at 100% when I'm in lobbys and I have massive laggs.

Its embarissing to see that you havent changed anything after one year as you said "we are still trying to optimise the Server list screen" and I'm pretty sure that this issue isnt caused by the Steamworks technology...
