Weather module in Zeus view overrides fog settings from missionfile - only enabling enhanced fog.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The amount of 'normal' fog set in the mission editor is overwritten with the new 'enhanced' fog as soon as the weather module is placed by Zeus and the fog setting is altered.
Unfortunately you can only set the density of the enhanced fog as Zeus and not the necessary settings: density, decay or base altitude - or even if you want the new height dependent fog or the old regular fog.

That way after altering the fog setting in a mission for the first time you can no longer have normal fog - which is unfortunate.

  1. Set fog in a Zeus enabled mission editor to a value greater than 1.
  2. Start mission.
  3. Change to Zeus view.
  4. Place Weather module.
  5. Change fog value.
  6. Notice immediate change from classic fog to enhanced fog without being able to revert this setting.
  7. Start missing the old fog.
  8. Eat too much chocolate to compensate the loss.
Additional Information

Additionally it would be very nice to have some more ways to alter the look of a mission by being able to change more weather settings than just 5 stages of overcast and a slider for fog...

I take everything back... The fog always comes back... But that leads to another issue: Overriding the fog settings from the mission is impossible within Zeus view. :D

Will be fixed in upcoming standard dev branch update.

BTW: Fog altitude is based on module's height above sea level. The higher the module is, the higher the altitude is. It wassn't clear enough, I've added a tooltip.

Ah! That explains a lot! That's a nice idea to implement these features, making them less menu-like and more immersive (but without a correspondent tooltip less intuitive unfortunately. ;))

Looking forward to the next update.
