Zeus "Remote Control" Module: Infantry Dismounted from Vehicles do not Kick Zeus Back to Interface on Death + More
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Placing a preset vehicle (such as a HEMTT with a driver), Remote Controlling the vehicle, dismounting from the vehicle, and then being killed by enemy fire with the Remote Controlled unit will not automatically place the player controlling the unit back into the Zeus interface, and it must be done manually. If the entire vehicle is destroyed (a tank blowing up the HEMTT instantly with a shell), you WILL be placed back into the interface properly.

Additionally, infantry killed inside vehicles (a driver being shot out of the driver's seat, for instance) will also not kick you back to the Zeus interface. When you enter the interface again, the vehicle will also have been switched to the "Civilian" side assuming that all units inside the vehicle are dead, which may not be intended behavior, as dismounting normally switches the vehicle to the "Empty" side.

Steps To Reproduce

Repro steps:

  1. Setup a typical Zeus mission, place a player unit, and preview.
  1. Enter the Zeus interface.
  1. Place a single BLUFOR HEMTT transport, NOT an empty HEMTT. This works with any vehicle preloaded with infantry, but the HEMTT is a simple way to test this.
  1. Remote Control the HEMTT transport.
  1. Eject/get out of the vehicle as the infantry man you're controlling.
  1. Suicide or be killed by opposing units OUTSIDE of the vehicle.
  1. Notice that you will not be put back into the Zeus interface properly. You will have to do it manually by using your Zeus key.

--FOR THE SECOND (POSSIBLE) ISSUE with Civilian Side Swap--

Additionally, place enemy infantry units around the vehicle.
  1. Remote control the HEMTT and try your best to get the driver killed by enemy units while still inside the vehicle. This can be difficult since for some reason all of OPFOR likes to aim below the belt instead of at your head.
  1. Assuming you've died, you won't automatically be placed back into the Zeus interface. Do it manually.
  1. Notice that the HEMTT is now on the "Civilian" side. This may or may not be intended.
Additional Information

Not severe. I am uncertain if the "Civilian" side swap is an issue, as I do not understand how the ARMA engine works very well.
