There are two smoke launchers on both the front and rear of the MBT-52 Kuma, but when firing them smoke grenades only appear in front of the tank.

Did you try cycling the flares/smoke firing mode? (Ctrl.-G)

I believe that this is with every other tank ....

Mass-closing resolved issues updated only last year - assuming fixed correctly.
