Is it just shown on the map or can you interact with it ingame?

Only vehicles can hit it and I have found several more by following the road south.
The rock formations geometry isn't matching what is being shown graphically

can you provide the grid ref of these problem areas?

You crash into one of invisible LODs, quad on the picture is smashed due to invisible rock ;)
