Please add rifle grenades
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Modern Rifle grenades like the french AC58, APAV40 or the israeli SIMON give the normal infantry man with a standard barreled rifle (no carbine!) grenadier capabilities and add tactical flexibility.
Grenadiers on the other hand can carry more grenades and fire them more accurately and faster if they use multi grenade launchers like the South African Milkor MGL, US XM-25 or the russian GM-94.

For a added futuristic twist the rifle grenades could also be used as hand grenades like the german WW2 potato masher hand grenades.

I am not familiar with AC58 or APAV40, But the Simon is mainly
used for door breaching from a distance, not as a grenade launcher.

However, while I do agree a dedicated GL like the Milkor MGL would be nice,
As far as I know (at least here in the IDF) Rifle Grenades are not
used anymore and have been replaced entirely with the likes of M203GL,
Apart from using the Simon for breaching of course, like I said before.

These Rifle Grenades are old and not as reliable as normal GL, are much more
dangerous to use, and as far as I know (at least here) are out of service
for many years now.

On any case, I would like to know what advantage would you get by using
a Rifle grenade over a regular GL, apart from having soldiers without GL
be able to fire grenades to a distance?

I really don't remember,
but OPF took place in the 80's no? cold war and all...
in the 80's it was still used often.

The XM25 was shown on the early screenshots.

France uses both the AC58 and the APAV40 and the SIMON has been adopted by US as well. The fact that a soldier can fire grenades without having to carry a launcher makes them attractive weight wise, especially if they double as handgrenades because e.g. M67 Frag weighs roughly the same as the APAV40. Potato masher style hand grenades can also be thrown further than standard hand grenades.
The AC58 on the other hand would also add some anti armor capabilities to the average rifleman.
As written before they add tactical flexibility.

OK, like I said I don't know what is going on in other armies
all I know that here it's pretty much not in use since the early/mid 90's.
maybe even late 80's, but thats before my time so I wouldn't know really.

What I know of is that my country doesn't use them like bez said.
I don't live in the same country as bez by the way.
But our army uses GL (We are using C7A1 and C8 as mobile transport and M249 Para.)
We only uses GL and works fine. Not heavy AT ALL!
Its just usefull and you can open fire and switch in 2 seconds to GL shoot and switch back.. Way usefuller.. But if you really wan't things like this you can wait till people are upvoting or creating it your self like a mod. But I think Bohemia isn't looking into this very quick.. They are busy with bugs / glitches and features that AREN'T in any way in the game. They will not create this faster than features like fast roping. Fast roping has more up votes and I think they will say you need to use the GL cause why should they put time in right now if there is an GL in game? They won't do it right now maybe later if there is enough time and other features that aren't in the game in any ways..
I hope it comes but actually I don't think it will come fast since they got GL's..

Anyway maeel, I did not downvote this ticket,
just sharing what I know.

Best of luck.

A Grenadier will always (and should game wise) trump a soldier with a rifle grenade, that's fine. Consider rifle-grenades to be hand-grenades that you can launch very far with your rifle. They are not supposed to compete with 40mm HiLo Grenades.
