Stars will appear directly below the aircraft at high altitudes, when the aircraft's altitude exceeds that of the draw distance set in the video options. {F20372}

Steps To Reproduce

1.) Get in any aircraft.
2.) Get to a high altitude. Make sure it is higher than your maximum draw distance (which is set in your video options).
3.) Watch as the stars appear below the aircraft.

What altitude, what should I set the elevation of the unit?

I did it on 3500-9000 meters, probably appears at lower altitudes as well.

Probably has more to do with view distance than altitude though. If your altitude is higher than your maximum draw distance, stars will appear.
