getting this error everytime i join a server then i get disconnected from the server wether its a private or dedicated server.
ive reinstalled the game and checked the integrity of the game cache and nothing is broke

Maybe its not an issue. In the editor I created a playable unit and unassigned its map and gps item. I clicked on Preview and got this "error" at the beginning of the mission, where you normally can see the map of the island. You can still click on Continue and play the mission.
It's simple: No map and no gps ---> no position data

Negative, Mulle. I had my map open, which had been working fine prior, and suddenly my screen went black and I got the message "0004235: cannot connect to positioning system".

To solve your problem we need dxdiag and files from this folder: "C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3 Alpha\"
