Rifle is slung on back when switching to pistol.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The time taken to sling the rifle over the back and withdraw the pistol seems to be impractical, especially when it is implied by the weapon-lowered walk animation that the rifle is on the sling. Rather than keep it this way, why not change it so that your character lets it hang off the vest and reduce the draw time of the pistol, giving it better tactical use and increasing realism. (Who would take the time to actually sling their rifle over their shoulder, especially in a situation that would require you to resort to your sidearm?)

I 100% support this(I was actually about to post this same issue).

I know the SMK animation mod in ArmA 2 did this, and I thought Smookie was doing the ArmA 3 animstions, so it's a little bizarre that it's not in.

As boloforo said, the rifle appears to be slung across your chest when in the walk animation, so why not have the rifle simply drop to across your chest when you pull your pistol out? It would also GREATLY decrease the amount of time it takes to transition to the pistol.

great idea, i think it can go further than just for fast switching, it could allow to temporarily switch out primary weapons without having to drop your current weapon and magazines, and then switch back again after use.

a simple example would be sneaking up on a sniper, take him out, and only be able to pickup the enemies rifle with current magazine, thus temporary use. Once you switch to either primary rifle or sidearm, you will drop the weapon on the ground.

Think other situations where a specific weapon could be very useful at a particular moment, and without the need of using the inventory, you can just quickly pickup an enemies primary, be it a rifle for sniping, support gunner, RPG, etc.

This way you do not need to go into an inventory to manage your gear in critical moments where the inventory could just be what gets you killed.
