HDR low settings produces low quality artifacts especially during night mission
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When I was setting up my graphical settings, I quite liked the low settings for HDR, not only it gave me small performance boost, but the image had more contrast, and it didn't produce as much blue halo over everything.

However when I played at night time, low quality has some compression/low bit artifacts. You can see them on lights from lighthouse .... it doesn't have high bit depth, and it looks quite bad, I see some "color banding" where some pink color bands are appearing

I would like to have either more options, or if it was possible that the bit depth on "sensitive" content would stay the same as with HDR high {F17873} {F17874}

then don't set it to that your gfx are doing this not the game i had mine on low its just ugly but no artifacts maybe lower your gpu clock.

adding screenshot to see what it does, ... low setting should lower bit depth and degrade image this much in my opinion.

you hardly notice any difference during day, however at night it is very different

I also use HDR 'LOW' but I put brightness to lowest which seems to help the levels. Reducing the bit depth will degrade the image of course and at night is when its most noticeable. Also NVG doesn't look so good.

Low settings = low visual quality. Not a bug.
