I recall reading an interview in which BIS said they were aware of this problem, but that it would be too costly in terms of computing power to calculate all the extra collisions for smoke and lights within towns. I agree it does look stupid, but it's something we're most probably going to have to live with for the next few years at lesat. Still, no harm in letting BIS know that players consider it an important issue that should be addressed in the future.

I would accept a collision with the wall remove the particle. While it would take the initial check to see if it was it, it would remove the particle from memory.

Edit: Or they could just stop the velocity of the particle and remove the check and make the particle slightly bigger. Obviously, there would need to be some testing to find the best solution.

Also flows through the floor. Especially noticeable in high winds, in hilly areas. Renders smoke virtually tactically ineffective in some situations

No need to do the calculations for a collision with the walls of smoke inside the building, it is necessary to gradually fill the room with smoke, and the smoke from the windows, above the smoke out of the room did not go through walls, and this smoke inside the house shall be operated otherwise than in open space. Smoke outside too shall not penetrate into buildings, it must cut

It's all nonsense, excuses.

It is a minor issue that would be a huge effort to fix (most likely), I rather have they stay focused on the general mechanics, performance and the AI. Things like this and also grass rendering at long distance and the likes are 'shinnies', not fundamental things that can be improved.

It is a minor issue? A you seriously? Attacking buildings is minor issue?
Huge affort to fix? And then what to fix? Sounds and missions?

It just is the general mechanics.
