DayZ Freezing & Crashing Since Recent Update – RTX 2080 Super & Ryzen 3700X, No Mods, Clean System

Description

Since the most recent DayZ update 1.28, the game freezes for 5–30 seconds during high-activity scenes (e.g. driving, fighting zombies, or rain), then occasionally crashes entirely.

The issue did not exist before the most recent patch.
The system was previously running DayZ smoothly for weeks.


System Specs:

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super (8GB)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (8-core, 3.6GHz)

RAM: 32GB DDR4

Drive: M.2 NVMe SSD (DayZ installed with 175GB free)

OS: Windows 11 (Fully updated)

Display: 1920x1080

Launched game in modded and vanilla servers

Troubleshooting Summary – Steps Taken

--System & Driver Checks
Updated NVIDIA drivers (clean install with DDU)

Verified Windows updates installed

Confirmed system temps and hardware are stable

--Disk & Game File Cleanup
Freed up space on M.2 SSD (from 95% full to 175 GB free)

Verified DayZ game files through Steam

Deleted DayZ config files (DayZ.cfg and .DayZProfile)

Cleared shader cache and old Workshop mod folders

--In-Game Optimization
Set graphics settings to low/medium

Disabled post-processing, motion blur, ambient occlusion, etc.

Capped FPS to 60 via NVIDIA Control Panel

Disabled V-Sync and overlays (Discord, Steam)

Tested game in vanilla/no mods setup (No further crash in Vanilla with driving vehicle (Ada) in short test run, went back to modded and crashed within seconds of driving while chased by zombies)

I was having this problem as soon as I walked in a building. I worked out Dayz can't handle 2.4 GHz frequency from my headset. When I switched to bluetooth, it resolved

Huh, that's an odd one lol. My headset is wired but I am using a Bluetooth mouse. I have over 6000 hrs on DayZ with that mouse and have not had these issues prior. Did this just start for you after the 1.28 update by chance?
