If you look through a scope or rangefinder whilst being in the prone position it doesn't aim where you were looking before. Instead you're probably be looking at the ground.
A while ago this problem was finally fixed but apparently only in the case when you're standing upright or are in the crouched position.
I've not tested this with the binoculars but the results are probably the same.
